Arnold Palmer cocktail recipe - featured image

A refreshing summer drink blending freshly brewed iced tea with bright, tart homemade lemonade. Perfect for backyard barbecues, pool parties, or relaxing afternoons.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 black tea bags (Lipton or Twinings recommended)
  • 4 cups (1 liter) water
  • 45 large fresh lemons, juiced (about 1 cup or 240 ml lemon juice)
  • 3/4 cup (150 g) granulated sugar
  • Ice cubes, for serving
  • Optional: 1-2 ounces (30-60 ml) bourbon for a boozy twist
  • A handful of fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Bring 4 cups (1 liter) of water to a boil. Remove from heat and steep 4 black tea bags for about 5 minutes. Remove tea bags and let the tea cool to room temperature (about 30 minutes).
  2. While the tea cools, juice 4-5 large lemons to get around 1 cup (240 ml) of fresh lemon juice.
  3. In a small saucepan, combine 3/4 cup (150 g) granulated sugar with 1 cup (240 ml) water. Heat gently, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely, then remove from heat. Let the simple syrup cool slightly.
  4. In a large pitcher, mix the cooled tea, fresh lemon juice, and the simple syrup. Stir well to blend all flavors. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  5. Refrigerate the mixture for at least 1 hour to meld flavors and chill thoroughly.
  6. Fill glasses with ice cubes, pour the chilled Arnold Palmer mix over the ice. Add 1-2 ounces (30-60 ml) bourbon if desired.
  7. Garnish with fresh mint leaves or a lemon wheel and serve.

Notes

Do not over-steep the tea to avoid bitterness. Use fresh lemon juice for best flavor. Chill the mixture for at least 1 hour before serving. Adjust sweetness gradually. For a boozy version, add bourbon to taste. Store leftovers in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Avoid freezing.
