Crispy Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts Recipe with Easy Balsamic Glaze

Crispy Brussels sprouts roasted in an air fryer and drizzled with a sweet and tangy balsamic glaze, perfect as a quick and flavorful side dish.

  • 1 pound (450 grams) Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt, to taste
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon (12 grams) brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon honey (optional)

Instructions

  1. Trim the stem ends and slice each Brussels sprout in half lengthwise for even cooking (about 5 minutes prep).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the halved sprouts with olive oil, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder if using, coating evenly.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes.
  4. Arrange the Brussels sprouts cut side down in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding.
  5. Air fry for 12 minutes, shaking or flipping halfway through until sprouts are golden brown and crispy on the edges but tender inside.
  6. While the sprouts cook, prepare the balsamic glaze by combining balsamic vinegar and brown sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves, then reduce heat to low and simmer for about 5 minutes until thickened. Stir in honey if desired.
  7. Transfer the crispy Brussels sprouts to a serving dish and drizzle the balsamic glaze over the top. Toss lightly or serve the glaze on the side for dipping. Serve immediately.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure crispiness. If sprouts brown too quickly but are not tender, lower temperature by 10°F and cook longer. The balsamic glaze should be syrupy, not burnt. For vegan glaze, substitute honey with maple syrup. Leftovers keep well for up to 3 days if stored separately and reheated in air fryer or oven to maintain crispiness.
