Instructions

  1. Wash and peel the 3 large russet potatoes. Slice them into 1/4-inch (6 mm) thick fries.
  2. Place the cut potatoes in a large bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours).
  3. Drain the water and spread fries on a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. Pat them dry thoroughly.
  4. Return the dry fries to the bowl. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons of olive oil. In a small bowl, mix 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika, 1/4 teaspoon onion powder, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, and optional 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper. Sprinkle this seasoning blend over the fries and toss until evenly coated.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for about 3 minutes.
  6. Place fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer without overcrowding. Cook for 15 minutes, shaking or tossing the basket every 5 minutes.
  7. Check for doneness; fries should be golden brown and crispy outside, tender inside. Cook an extra 2-3 minutes if needed.
  8. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh chopped parsley if desired.
