A quick and easy recipe for classic Rice Krispie treats with a fun twist of vibrant team colors, perfect for parties, game days, and celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal (or other crispy rice cereal)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 10 oz (about 40) marshmallows, regular or mini
  • Gel food coloring in your chosen team colors
  • Optional toppings or mix-ins: sprinkles or edible glitter, mini chocolate chips or colored candy pieces

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan lightly with butter or line it with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. In a large non-stick saucepan over low heat, melt 4 tablespoons (60 grams) of unsalted butter, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add 10 oz (about 280 grams) of marshmallows to the melted butter. Stir continuously with a wooden spoon or silicone spatula until completely melted and smooth, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately stir in gel food coloring, starting with about 1/4 teaspoon and adding more for deeper color.
  5. Gradually add 6 cups (about 180 grams) of Rice Krispies cereal to the marshmallow mixture. Fold gently but quickly to coat every piece.
  6. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan. Using wax paper or buttered hands, press the mixture evenly and firmly into the pan without compacting too much.
  7. Let the treats cool at room temperature for at least 30 minutes until firm. Cut into squares or shapes for serving.

Notes

Melt marshmallows over low heat to avoid scorching. Add gel food coloring off the heat to prevent bleeding or fading. Press the mixture lightly to keep treats crispy. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze wrapped for up to 2 months.
