A quick and easy honey lime chicken recipe featuring a sweet and tangy glaze that caramelizes beautifully on tender chicken breasts. Perfect for busy weeknights or casual gatherings.

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs / 680 g)
  • 1/4 cup (85 g) honey (raw or wildflower preferred)
  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) freshly squeezed lime juice (from 2 medium limes)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste
  • A handful of fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat dry the chicken breasts with paper towels and season both sides generously with kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, lime juice, soy sauce, minced garlic, and ground cumin. Set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering but not smoking, about 2 minutes.
  4. Place chicken breasts in the hot skillet without crowding. Cook undisturbed for 5 minutes to build a golden crust.
  5. Flip the chicken carefully and cook the other side for 4 minutes.
  6. Pour the honey lime glaze over the chicken. Reduce heat to medium-low and let the chicken simmer in the glaze, spooning sauce over the top occasionally, for 5-7 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  7. Remove chicken from skillet and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
  8. Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro and serve immediately.

Notes

Patting the chicken dry before searing is key to a golden crust. Keep heat medium-low when simmering the glaze to prevent burning. Spoon glaze over chicken during cooking for even flavor. Rest chicken before slicing to keep it juicy. Add a splash of water or lime juice if glaze thickens too much or starts to burn.
