  • Cucumber-Mint Lemonade: 6 large lemons, juiced (about 1 cup / 240 ml)
  • Cucumber-Mint Lemonade: 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • Cucumber-Mint Lemonade: 4 cups (950 ml) cold water
  • Cucumber-Mint Lemonade: Handful of fresh mint leaves, plus extra for garnish
  • Cucumber-Mint Lemonade: Ice cubes (to serve)

Instructions

  1. Make the Classic Lemonade: Juice the lemons until you have about 1 cup (240 ml) of fresh lemon juice.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup (200 g) sugar with 1 cup (240 ml) water. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves completely to make simple syrup. Allow it to cool slightly.
  3. Pour the lemon juice and simple syrup into a large pitcher. Add 4 cups (950 ml) cold water and stir well. Taste and add more water if desired. Refrigerate until chilled, about 30 minutes. Serve over ice.
  4. Prepare the Strawberry Lemonade: Place fresh strawberries and sugar in a blender. Blend until smooth, about 30 seconds.
  5. Strain the strawberry puree through a fine mesh sieve to remove seeds.
  6. In a large pitcher, combine the strawberry puree, lemon juice (1 cup / 240 ml), and 4 cups (950 ml) cold water. Stir well and chill for at least 30 minutes before serving over ice. Garnish with fresh strawberry slices if desired.
  7. Make the Cucumber-Mint Lemonade: Blend peeled cucumber slices, mint leaves, sugar, and 1 cup (240 ml) water until smooth.
  8. Strain the cucumber-mint mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher.
  9. Add lemon juice (1 cup / 240 ml) and 3 cups (710 ml) cold water to the pitcher. Stir well and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld.
  10. When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the lemonade of choice. Garnish with lemon slices, mint sprigs, or strawberry halves.

Notes

Use organic lemons for best flavor. Adjust sweetness after chilling by adding more simple syrup or lemon juice to balance tartness. Strain strawberry and cucumber mixtures for smooth texture. Chill lemonade for at least 30 minutes before serving. Can substitute sugar with honey, maple syrup, or sugar substitutes for dietary preferences. Sparkling water can replace cold water for fizzy lemonade. Store leftovers in airtight containers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
