  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) vegetable oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Measure out 4 tablespoons (30g) all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons (25g) sugar, 1 tablespoon (5g) unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/4 teaspoon baking powder, and a pinch of salt directly into your microwave-safe mug.
  2. Use a spoon or small whisk to blend the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until evenly combined.
  3. Pour in 3 tablespoons (45ml) milk, 1 tablespoon (15ml) vegetable oil, and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract. Stir vigorously until you get a smooth batter with no lumps.
  4. Optional: Sprinkle a tablespoon of chocolate chips or add a spoonful of peanut butter on top of the batter and gently press them in.
  5. Place the mug in your microwave and cook on high for 70-90 seconds. Start with 70 seconds and add 10-second increments if needed.
  6. Insert a toothpick or clean knife into the center—if it comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs, it’s ready.
