A quick and easy homemade strawberry iced tea that combines fresh strawberry puree with brewed black tea, perfect for summer sipping and family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 black tea bags
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 5 cups water (4 cups for tea + 1 cup for strawberry puree)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • Ice cubes as needed
  • Optional: fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Bring 4 cups (950 ml) of water to a boil in a kettle or saucepan. Remove from heat and add 4 black tea bags. Let steep for 5–7 minutes depending on desired strength. Remove tea bags and set brewed tea aside to cool slightly.
  2. While tea is steeping, combine 1 cup (150 g) hulled and sliced fresh strawberries with 1 cup (240 ml) water in a blender. Blend until smooth. Strain through a fine mesh sieve if a smoother texture is preferred.
  3. In a small saucepan, mix ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar with ½ cup (120 ml) water. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let cool.
  4. In a large pitcher, combine brewed tea, strawberry puree, and simple syrup. Stir well. Add 2 tablespoons (30 ml) fresh lemon juice and adjust sweetness or tartness to taste.
  5. Refrigerate mixture for at least 1 hour to chill and let flavors meld.
  6. Serve over ice cubes, garnished with fresh mint leaves or lemon slices if desired.

Notes

Do not over-steep the tea to avoid bitterness. Use ripe strawberries for best flavor. Make simple syrup first to avoid graininess. Chill tea before refrigerating to prevent cloudiness. Adjust sweetness gradually. Strain tea and puree for smoothness. Frozen strawberries can be used if thawed. For caffeine-free version, use herbal tea like rooibos.
