A sweet, fruity, and easy homemade iced tea recipe perfect for summer, featuring fresh peaches and black tea with a homemade peach syrup and a hint of lemon.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 black tea bags (Assam or Ceylon blend preferred)
  • 2 large ripe peaches, sliced
  • 4 cups (950 ml) filtered water
  • ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Bring 4 cups (950 ml) of filtered water to a rolling boil in a kettle or saucepan (about 5 minutes).
  2. Place 4 black tea bags into a large heatproof pitcher. Pour the boiling water over the tea bags and steep for 5-7 minutes depending on desired strength.
  3. While the tea steeps, combine ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar with ½ cup (120 ml) water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium until sugar dissolves completely, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  4. Remove and discard the tea bags from the pitcher. Stir the warm peach syrup into the tea.
  5. Add the 2 large ripe peach slices directly into the pitcher to infuse flavor.
  6. Stir in 2 tablespoons (30 ml) freshly squeezed lemon juice.
  7. Let the mixture cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour to chill and deepen flavors.
  8. Serve over ice cubes and garnish with fresh mint leaves and extra peach slices if desired.

Notes

For stronger peach flavor, muddle peach slices before adding. Adjust sweetness by adding more water or lemon juice if too sweet. Frozen peach slices can be used when fresh are out of season. Use peach-flavored herbal tea for caffeine-free version. Store in refrigerator up to 3 days; strain peaches if preferred to avoid mushiness.
