A simple, elegant appetizer featuring tender asparagus wrapped in crispy prosciutto, perfect for quick prep and impressive flavor with just five ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh asparagus (medium-thick stalks, woody ends trimmed)
  • 6 ounces thinly sliced prosciutto
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • Juice of ½ fresh lemon
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the asparagus by snapping off the woody ends and laying the stalks on a clean surface.
  3. Cut the prosciutto slices in half lengthwise.
  4. Wrap each asparagus spear with a strip of prosciutto, starting at the bottom and spiraling up, keeping it snug but not too tight.
  5. Arrange the wrapped asparagus on a baking sheet in a single layer, leaving space between each spear.
  6. Drizzle olive oil evenly over the wrapped asparagus.
  7. Roast in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, turning each spear halfway through to ensure even crisping.
  8. Remove from oven and immediately squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top.
  9. Finish with a few twists of freshly ground black pepper and serve warm.

Notes

Turn asparagus halfway through roasting for even crisping. Use thinly sliced prosciutto for best texture. Avoid overcrowding the pan to prevent steaming. Fresh lemon juice adds brightness; avoid bottled lemon juice. Leftovers reheat well in a 375°F oven for 5-7 minutes to restore crispiness. Do not microwave leftovers to avoid chewy prosciutto.
