A quick, 5-minute prep overnight oats recipe that yields a thick, creamy, pudding-like texture. Perfect for meal prep and busy mornings, this jar-based breakfast combines rolled oats, peanut butter, and banana for sustained energy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Old-Fashioned Rolled Oats per jar
  • 1 cup Milk of choice (dairy, almond, or oat) per jar
  • 2 tablespoons Natural Peanut Butter per serving
  • 1 medium Ripe Banana, sliced thin per jar
  • 1 tablespoon Chia Seeds per jar (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Honey or Maple Syrup (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 pinch Salt

Instructions

  1. Prep four clean, dry glass jars (such as mason jars) and place them on the counter.
  2. Add one cup of rolled oats, one tablespoon of chia seeds, a pinch of salt, and half a teaspoon of cinnamon to each jar.
  3. Mix the dry ingredients together in the jar with a spoon to ensure even distribution.
  4. Pour one cup of milk into each jar, leaving about an inch of space at the top for expansion.
  5. Stir the mixture vigorously until the oats are fully submerged and the mixture looks uniform like thick soup.
  6. Seal the jars tightly and refrigerate for at least four hours, preferably overnight (8 hours).
  7. While the oats are chilling, slice the bananas into thin slices.
  8. When ready to eat, remove the jar from the fridge and stir again.
  9. Top with the sliced bananas, drizzle with peanut butter, and add honey if desired.
  10. Serve cold or warm in the microwave for 30 seconds if preferred.

Notes

[‘Use Old-Fashioned Rolled Oats; steel-cut oats will remain too hard, and quick oats will become too mushy.’, ‘Natural peanut butter is recommended for better texture and flavor, but processed peanut butter works in a pinch.’, ‘Slice bananas just before eating to prevent browning and mushiness.’, ‘If the mixture is too thick, add a splash of milk. If too runny, add more oats or chia seeds.’, ‘Wash jars immediately after use as peanut butter hardens and is difficult to clean later.’, ‘Store in the fridge for up to 5 days, but best consumed within 3 days.’]
