Easy and quick appetizer featuring tender asparagus wrapped in crispy bacon, perfect for any occasion and crowd-pleasing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound asparagus, trimmed and washed
  • 8 to 10 slices thin-cut bacon (about 8 oz)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Salt (optional, use cautiously)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Trim the woody ends off the asparagus stalks (about 1 to 1.5 inches). Rinse and pat dry thoroughly.
  3. In a bowl, drizzle olive oil over the asparagus. Sprinkle with black pepper and garlic powder if using. Toss until evenly coated.
  4. Group 3 to 4 asparagus spears together. Wrap a slice of bacon around each bundle tightly, overlapping slightly. Secure with kitchen twine or a toothpick if needed. Repeat with all asparagus.
  5. Place the bundles seam-side down on the baking sheet, leaving space between bundles for air circulation.
  6. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes. Halfway through (around 10 minutes), use tongs to turn each bundle for even crispness. Bacon should be golden and crispy, asparagus tender but bright green.
  7. Let the bundles rest on the pan for 2-3 minutes after removing from the oven before serving.

Notes

Use thin-cut bacon for best crispiness without overpowering asparagus. Turn bundles halfway through baking for even crispness. Let rest before serving to firm up bacon. For thicker bacon, pre-cook slightly before wrapping. Broil 1-2 minutes at the end if bacon isn’t crisping well. Can be grilled as an alternative cooking method.
