These crispy chocolate dipped pretzel rods with festive sprinkles combine salty crunch and smooth chocolate for a quick, crowd-pleasing snack perfect for parties and gifts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Pretzel rods (thick, crunchy, classic salted)
  • 12 ounces (340 grams) good-quality baking or couverture chocolate (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)
  • ½ cup (75 grams) festive sprinkles (rainbow nonpareils, holiday sugar shapes, edible glitter)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons coconut oil or vegetable oil
  • Optional: pinch of sea salt flakes for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Chop 12 ounces (340 grams) of chocolate into even pieces.
  2. Place chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl with 1 to 2 tablespoons of coconut or vegetable oil.
  3. Heat in 30-second increments, stirring well between each, until smooth and glossy, about 5 minutes total. Alternatively, melt in a double boiler over simmering water, stirring until fully combined.
  4. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat and have sprinkles ready in a shallow bowl or plate.
  5. Hold a pretzel rod by one end and dip the other into the melted chocolate, swirling lightly to coat about 3 to 4 inches (7.5 to 10 cm). Let excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
  6. Immediately sprinkle festive decorations over the chocolate-coated part before it sets.
  7. Place dipped pretzels on the lined baking sheet. Optionally, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt flakes over the chocolate.
  8. Let them sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes or place in the fridge for 10 minutes to harden faster.
  9. Once fully set, transfer to an airtight container. Store at room temperature for up to a week or refrigerate for longer freshness.

Notes

Use high-quality couverture chocolate for best shine and snap. Thin chocolate with oil for smooth coating. Dip pretzels slowly and sprinkle immediately for best results. Chill pretzels before dipping for faster setting. Store in airtight container to maintain crispness. Avoid humid environments to prevent chocolate bloom.
