These crispy, buttery sliders feature soft pretzel buns topped with ham or roast beef, sharp cheddar cheese, and a tangy garlic-mustard butter. They are quick to make, perfect for game day, and offer a delicious contrast of textures.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 to 10 soft pretzel buns
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 8 to 10 slices sliced ham or roast beef
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds (optional)
  • Pinch of salt (if needed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice pretzel buns in half horizontally and place bottom halves on a baking sheet.
  3. Layer sliced meat onto the bottom buns, followed by the shredded cheddar cheese.
  4. Place the top halves of the buns on the cheese and press down gently.
  5. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. Whisk in mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and poppy seeds until smooth.
  6. Pour the mustard butter evenly over the sliders, drizzling into crevices.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes until cheese is melted and tops are golden brown.
  8. Let cool for 2-3 minutes before serving.

Notes

If you like extra heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the butter. For best results, use slightly stale buns as they toast better. Avoid adding wet ingredients like pickles directly to the slider to prevent sogginess. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheated in the oven.
