A quick and easy refreshing iced espresso drink with brown sugar and creamy oatmilk, shaken to create a frothy, bubbly texture. Perfect for a cozy, dairy-free caffeine boost.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 shots (about 2 fl oz / 60 ml) freshly brewed espresso (or strong brewed coffee/cold brew concentrate)
  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar (about 30 g)
  • ½ cup (120 ml) oatmilk, preferably barista-style
  • 1 cup (240 ml) ice cubes
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew your espresso (about 2 shots or 60 ml). Use freshly ground beans for best aroma. If no espresso machine, brew strong coffee concentrate.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons brown sugar to hot espresso and stir vigorously until sugar dissolves completely (about 1 minute).
  3. Pour the sweetened espresso into a cocktail shaker. Add 1 cup ice cubes and optional vanilla extract.
  4. Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds to chill and aerate the espresso, creating a frothy texture.
  5. Pour the shaken espresso into a glass, straining out ice if preferred.
  6. Slowly pour ½ cup oatmilk over the espresso to create a layered effect.
  7. Stir gently if desired or leave layered. Serve immediately with a straw or spoon.

Notes

Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds to achieve frothy texture. Use barista-style oatmilk for creaminess. Keep shaker and glass chilled for best refreshment. Sweeten to taste by adjusting brown sugar. Can substitute almond or cashew milk. Prepare espresso-brown sugar mix up to 24 hours ahead, but shake with ice and add oatmilk fresh.
