This Easy Apple Cider Margarita with Cinnamon Sugar Rim is a crisp, refreshing fall cocktail that balances tart apple cider with tequila and a warm cinnamon sugar rim. It’s quick to make, uses simple ingredients, and is perfect for fall gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ounces (60 ml) reposado or blanco tequila
  • 3 ounces (90 ml) unsweetened apple cider
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) triple sec or Cointreau
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Ice
  • Optional garnish: thin apple slice or cinnamon stick

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cinnamon sugar rim: Mix 2 tablespoons granulated sugar with 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon on a small plate.
  2. Prep the glass: Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then gently press the rim into the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated. Tap off any excess.
  3. Fill the glass with ice, preferably large cubes.
  4. Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker: Add 2 ounces tequila, 3 ounces apple cider, 1 ounce orange liqueur, and 1 ounce fresh lime juice. Fill the shaker halfway with ice.
  5. Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until the shaker feels cold to the touch.
  6. Strain the mixture into the prepared glass over fresh ice. Use a fine mesh strainer for a cleaner pour if desired.
  7. Garnish with a thin apple slice or cinnamon stick if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Do not use spiced apple cider; stick with plain, unfiltered apple cider. Fresh lime juice is essential—bottled juice will affect the flavor. Rim the glass just before serving to prevent the sugar from getting clumpy. For a batch, mix tequila, cider, and orange liqueur ahead of time, then add lime juice and ice when serving.
