This easy candy corn popcorn Halloween snack mix is a sweet and salty treat that comes together in about 15 minutes. It’s perfect for Halloween parties, movie nights, or any spooky season gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups popped popcorn (about 1/2 cup unpopped kernels or two 3-ounce bags of microwave popcorn)
  • 1 1/2 cups candy corn
  • 1 1/2 cups mini pretzels
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional mix-ins: 1/2 cup dry-roasted peanuts, 1/2 cup Halloween sprinkles, or 1/2 cup candy pumpkins

Instructions

  1. Pop your popcorn. If using microwave popcorn, pop two bags according to package directions. If air-popping, pop about 1/2 cup of kernels. Let the popcorn cool completely—about 5 minutes.
  2. Pick out the unpopped kernels.
  3. Combine the dry ingredients. In a large mixing bowl, add the cooled popcorn, candy corn, and mini pretzels. If adding peanuts or other mix-ins, add them now. Gently toss with your hands to distribute evenly.
  4. Melt the white chocolate. Place the white chocolate chips and coconut oil (if using) in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until smooth (about 1-2 minutes total).
  5. Drizzle the chocolate. Using a spoon or small measuring cup, drizzle the melted white chocolate over the popcorn mixture. Drizzle, toss gently, then drizzle again for even distribution.
  6. Toss to coat. Use a silicone spatula to gently fold the mixture until the white chocolate is evenly distributed.
  7. Spread on baking sheet. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the mixture in an even layer.
  8. Sprinkle with salt. While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle a little flaky sea salt over the top.
  9. Let it set. Allow the mix to cool completely at room temperature, about 30-45 minutes. If in a hurry, refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  10. Break into pieces. Once set, break the mix into smaller clusters.

Notes

Let the popcorn cool completely before adding chocolate to avoid sogginess. For best results, make a day ahead to allow flavors to meld. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week. Do not refrigerate.
