Easy Mummy Hot Dogs with Melted Cheese - featured image

These fun and simple mummy hot dogs feature a hidden cheese center that melts from the inside out, wrapped in golden crescent roll dough. Perfect for Halloween parties or a quick weeknight treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 standard-size hot dogs
  • 4 string cheese or mozzarella sticks, each cut lengthwise into 4 strips
  • 1 can (8 rolls) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • Mustard or ketchup (for eyes, optional)
  • Everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice each hot dog lengthwise down the center, creating a deep slit without cutting all the way through.
  3. Tuck one strip of mozzarella into the slit of each hot dog.
  4. Open the can of crescent roll dough and separate into 8 triangles. Cut each triangle lengthwise into 3 thin strips.
  5. Wrap 2-3 strips of dough around each cheese-stuffed hot dog, starting at one end and overlapping slightly. Leave a small gap at the top for the eyes.
  6. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about an inch of space between each.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
  8. Let cool for 2-3 minutes, then transfer to a serving platter. Use a toothpick to dab tiny dots of mustard or ketchup onto the exposed hot dog for eyes.
  9. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use low-moisture mozzarella. Keep the dough cold for easier handling. Leave a gap at the top for the eyes. These are best served warm.
