Quick and festive pretzel rods dipped in smooth white chocolate and decorated with red and blue sugar sprinkles, perfect for 4th of July celebrations. A simple, crowd-pleasing treat that balances salty crunch with sweet creaminess.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces white chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • Pretzel rods (thick variety recommended)
  • Red and blue decorative sugar sprinkles
  • Optional toppings: crushed freeze-dried strawberries or blueberries
  • Wax paper or parchment paper for lining

Instructions

  1. Melt the white chocolate: Place 12 ounces (340 grams) of white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20-second bursts, stirring well after each, until smooth (about 1-2 minutes). Alternatively, melt using a double boiler over simmering water, stirring gently.
  2. Prepare your workspace: Line a baking sheet with wax or parchment paper. Pour sprinkles or toppings into small bowls within easy reach.
  3. Dip the pretzel rods: Holding a pretzel rod by one end, dip it into the melted white chocolate, swirling to coat about three-quarters of the rod. Lift and allow excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl (2-3 seconds per rod).
  4. Decorate immediately: While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle the red and blue sugars over the coated pretzel rods or roll them gently in the toppings for an even coat.
  5. Set the rods: Place the decorated pretzels on the lined baking sheet. Let them sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes until the chocolate hardens. For faster setting, refrigerate for 10 minutes.
  6. Storage: Once set, transfer the pretzel rods to an airtight container. Store at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week. Bring to room temperature before serving.

Notes

Use short microwave bursts and stir frequently to avoid overheating white chocolate. If chocolate thickens during dipping, gently reheat and stir. Work in small batches to prevent chocolate from setting too quickly. For dairy-free or gluten-free options, use coconut-based white chocolate and gluten-free pretzel rods. Avoid freezing to prevent chocolate bloom.
