Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) cherry-flavored gelatin (like Jell-O)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • ½ cup (120 ml) cold water
  • 2 oz (60 ml) vodka or light rum (optional for adult version)
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1 cup (240 ml) coconut milk (full fat for creaminess)
  • ½ cup (120 ml) granulated sugar
  • 2 oz (60 ml) vodka or light rum (optional)
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) blueberry or grape-flavored gelatin
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • ½ cup (120 ml) cold water
  • 2 oz (60 ml) vodka or light rum (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Layer: In a mixing bowl, dissolve cherry gelatin package in 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water. Stir well until completely dissolved.
  2. Add ½ cup (120 ml) cold water and 2 oz (60 ml) vodka or rum (if using). Mix gently but thoroughly.
  3. Pour about 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of the red mixture into each shot glass. Place the glasses in the refrigerator for 30-40 minutes, or until the layer is firm to the touch but not fully set.
  4. Make the White Layer: While the red layer chills, sprinkle unflavored gelatin over ½ cup (120 ml) cold coconut milk. Let it bloom for 5 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, warm the remaining ½ cup (120 ml) coconut milk with ½ cup (100 g) sugar in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring until sugar dissolves (do not boil).
  6. Remove from heat, stir in bloomed gelatin until fully dissolved. Let cool slightly before adding 2 oz (60 ml) vodka or rum if desired.
  7. Carefully spoon the white layer over the set red layer in each glass. Return to the fridge for another 30-40 minutes until firm but slightly pliable.
  8. Prepare the Blue Layer: Dissolve blueberry gelatin package in 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water, stirring until dissolved.
  9. Add ½ cup (120 ml) cold water and 2 oz (60 ml) vodka or rum (optional). Let cool to room temperature.
  10. Pour the blue mixture gently over the white layer in each shot glass. Chill for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, until fully set.

Notes

Pour each layer slowly over the back of a spoon to avoid disturbing the layers below. Let each layer firm up just right before adding the next to prevent colors from bleeding. For non-alcoholic versions, replace vodka or rum with cold water or fruit juice. Fresh blueberries can be added to the blue layer for extra texture. Coconut milk adds a creamy tropical twist but can be substituted with heavy cream or whole milk.
