These buffalo chicken pretzel sliders combine spicy buffalo sauce, tender shredded chicken, and creamy blue cheese on chewy pretzel buns for an easy, crowd-pleasing game day snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 small pretzel buns or slider-sized pretzel rolls
  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken breast (rotisserie chicken recommended)
  • 1/2 cup hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/4 cup blue cheese dressing (or ranch dressing as alternative)
  • 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • Sliced dill pickles
  • Thinly sliced celery sticks (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (for brushing buns)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Buffalo Sauce: In a small saucepan over low heat, melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Stir in 1/2 cup of hot sauce and 1 teaspoon of honey. Whisk until smooth and warm, about 3 minutes. Set aside.
  2. Mix the Chicken: In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of shredded cooked chicken with the buffalo sauce. Toss gently until all the chicken is evenly coated. Taste and adjust the sauce if desired.
  3. Prepare the Buns: Slice the pretzel buns horizontally, leaving a hinge so they open like little books. Brush the insides with melted butter mixed with 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder for extra flavor.
  4. Assemble the Sliders: On the bottom half of each bun, layer a generous scoop of buffalo chicken, a slice of sharp cheddar cheese, a drizzle of blue cheese dressing, and a couple of dill pickle slices. Add thinly sliced celery sticks if desired.
  5. Toast and Melt: Place the assembled sliders on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in a preheated 375°F (190°C) oven for 8-10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and buns are slightly toasted.
  6. Final Touch: Remove from the oven and brush the tops of the buns with a little melted butter for a glossy finish. Close the sliders gently and serve warm.

Notes

Do not overload buns with sauce to avoid sogginess. Assemble sliders without cheese if preparing ahead and toast just before serving. Use rotisserie chicken for convenience and juiciness. Reheat in oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes to keep buns chewy. Adjust buffalo sauce heat by adding honey or milder hot sauce. For gluten-free, use gluten-free buns or lettuce wraps. For dairy-free, use dairy-free ranch and vegan cheese.
