A quick and easy fresh breakfast charcuterie board featuring buttery pastries, fresh fruit, nuts, and savory bites, perfect for a relaxed weekend morning or entertaining guests.

Ingredients

  • Butter croissants (preferably fresh or from a local bakery)
  • Mini danishes or cinnamon rolls (optional)
  • Strawberries, sliced
  • Blueberries or blackberries
  • Seedless grapes (green or red)
  • Apple or pear slices
  • Soft goat cheese or cream cheese
  • Honey-glazed ham or prosciutto slices
  • Mixed nuts like almonds or walnuts
  • Honey or fruit preserves (fig or apricot preserves recommended)
  • Fresh herbs like mint or basil (optional)
  • Dark chocolate chunks or mini squares (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse all fresh fruit gently and pat dry. Slice strawberries, apples, or pears thinly and toss grapes and berries into small bowls.
  2. Toast nuts lightly in a dry pan over medium heat for 3-4 minutes to bring out flavor. Let cool.
  3. Place croissants and other pastries on the board first, spacing them out to create anchor points. Warm cold pastries in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 3-5 minutes until flaky and warm.
  4. Place slices of ham or prosciutto in small piles or loosely folded. Scoop soft cheese into small ramekins or create small dollops directly on the board.
  5. Arrange sliced fruit around pastries and cheese, balancing colors and shapes so the board looks vibrant but not overcrowded. Place clusters of grapes and berry bowls strategically.
  6. Sprinkle toasted nuts over open spaces for crunch. Add a drizzle of honey or place a small bowl of preserves for spreading. Tuck in herbs like mint for a fresh pop of green.
  7. Fill any gaps with dark chocolate chunks or additional fruit. Ensure everything is easy to reach and avoid overcrowding the board.

Notes

Warm pastries just before serving for best flavor and texture. Use bowls for loose items like nuts and preserves to keep the board tidy. Prep most ingredients ahead and assemble just before serving to keep fruit fresh and pastries flaky. Can be adapted for gluten-free and vegan diets by swapping ingredients accordingly.
