A refreshing and hydrating summer drink combining sweet watermelon, fresh mint, lime juice, and a touch of sweetness. Perfect for hot days and easy to prepare in under 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (600g) fresh seedless watermelon, diced
  • 1012 fresh mint leaves, gently bruised
  • Juice of 1 large lime (about 2 tablespoons or 30ml)
  • 2 cups (480ml) cold water
  • 12 tablespoons sugar or honey (optional, adjust to taste)
  • Ice cubes for serving

Instructions

  1. Cut about 4 cups (600g) of seedless watermelon into cubes, ensuring pieces are roughly uniform.
  2. Place the watermelon cubes and 2 cups (480ml) of cold water in a blender and blend on high until smooth, about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Optional: Pour the blended watermelon through a fine mesh strainer into a large pitcher to remove pulp and seeds, pressing with a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible.
  4. Add the juice of 1 large lime (about 2 tablespoons or 30ml) and 1-2 tablespoons of sugar or honey to the pitcher. Stir well until the sweetener dissolves.
  5. Tear or gently bruise 10-12 fresh mint leaves and add them to the pitcher. Stir gently to distribute the mint flavor evenly.
  6. Refrigerate the agua fresca for at least 30 minutes to chill and let flavors meld.
  7. Serve over plenty of ice cubes for maximum refreshment.

Notes

Bruise mint leaves gently to release flavor without overpowering the drink. Straining is optional depending on preferred texture. Adjust sweetness based on watermelon ripeness. For a fizzy twist, add sparkling water just before serving. Can be prepared up to 2 days in advance and stirred before serving.
