Quick Copycat Pumpkin Spice Latte - featured image

A simplified, homemade version of the classic coffee shop drink that uses real pumpkin puree and pantry staples to create a creamy, spiced latte in under five minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened pumpkin puree
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/16 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup (240ml) brewed strong coffee or espresso
  • 1 cup (240ml) milk (whole, oat, or almond)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream for topping (optional)
  • Pumpkin pie spice for garnish

Instructions

  1. Brew one cup of strong coffee and set it aside to keep warm.
  2. In a mug, combine pumpkin puree, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves. Stir vigorously to create a smooth, thick paste.
  3. Pour milk into a small saucepan and heat over medium-low heat until hot but not boiling.
  4. Froth the hot milk using an electric frother or by shaking it in a jar with a tight lid for 30 seconds.
  5. Pour the hot, frothed milk into the mug with the spice paste and stir until completely dissolved.
  6. Slowly pour the brewed coffee into the milk mixture and stir.
  7. Taste and adjust sweetness or spice if needed.
  8. Top with whipped cream and a dusting of pumpkin pie spice. Serve immediately.

Notes

Ensure you use unsweetened pumpkin puree, not pie filling. Do not boil the milk to preserve its ability to froth and its sweetness. For a dairy-free option, use oat milk which froths well. The spice paste can be prepped in advance and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
