Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken (rotisserie chicken works perfectly)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup buffalo hot sauce (Frank’s RedHot recommended)
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing (or blue cheese dressing)
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (for spiderweb design)
  • Black sesame seeds or poppy seeds (for spider decoration)
  • Pretzel sticks (broken into pieces for spider legs)
  • Celery sticks, cut into 3-inch pieces
  • Carrot sticks
  • Cucumber rounds
  • Bell pepper strips (orange and yellow)
  • Tortilla chips (scoop-shaped recommended)
  • Pita chips
  • Breadsticks or crostini
  • Optional: Pretzel sticks, cheese cubes, grapes

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the softened cream cheese and stir continuously until completely smooth and melted, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Pour in the buffalo hot sauce and ranch dressing. Stir until well combined and smooth.
  3. Add the shredded chicken, half of the shredded cheddar, and crumbled blue cheese (if using). Stir until chicken is evenly coated and cheese has melted, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning as desired.
  5. Spoon the hot dip onto the center of a serving board. Spread into a circular shape about 6-8 inches in diameter, leaving room around the edges for dippers.
  6. Spoon sour cream into a small piping bag or zip-top bag. Snip off a tiny corner. Pipe a small dot of sour cream in the center of the dip, then pipe concentric circles around it, spacing them about 1 inch apart (4-5 circles total).
  7. Using a toothpick or knife tip, gently drag from the center outward through the sour cream circles every 1-2 inches around the entire circle to create web lines.
  8. Place black sesame seeds or poppy seeds in the center of the web for the spider’s body. Arrange broken pretzel stick pieces around it for legs (8 legs recommended).
  9. Arrange vegetables and chips around the dip on the board, grouping similar items together.
  10. Fill any empty spaces with extra ingredients like cheese cubes, grapes, or additional pretzels.
  11. Serve immediately while the dip is warm.

Notes

Let cream cheese come to room temperature for smooth texture. Let dip cool 2-3 minutes before piping sour cream web to prevent melting. Shred your own cheese for best melting. Prep ingredients ahead for easier assembly. Dip can be made up to 2 days in advance and reheated.
